ROBINSON FREDERICK

One of the most fun ways to get a peek into another person’s life is to experience their city like a local would -- with a homebase in a their space. LifeSwap takes the fun of living how a stranger does one step further. We’ve teamed up with AirBnB to give you a taste of what it’s like to step into someone else’s shoes. We can safely say that this is the best giveaway of any SXSW party around.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

Because we're in the throws of a revolution. The revolution is women and the future is female.

From rappers to political revolutionaries, from graffiti artists to ecofeminists - women all over the world are rising up with emboldened voices affecting change and assuming positions of authority.

Just because these stories aren’t making headlines doesn’t mean they’re not news. Join Kassidy Brown and Allison Rapson, co-founders of We are the XX - a groundbreaking feminist production studio and lifestyle brand - as they peel back the layers of traditional storytelling to reveal the inside scoop on A Woman’s Place.

The evening will feature a screening of the Swedish episode of We are the XX's original series, A Woman's Place. The episdoe features feminist rap collective, Femtastic. The sceening wil be followed by a discussion and performance with Los Angeles-based musician, feminist activist and music industry thinker, Kiran Gandhi. Kiran holds an MBA from Harvard and has toured as the drummer for MIA and Thievery Corporation and currently produces music under her own project called, Madame Gandhi.

The LINEUP

We are the xx

We are the XX is a female founded media company that creates content that exposes the world we live in — a world that is, in fact, 50% female and unapologetically so. We are the XX is intelligently capturing the powerful truth of how women live and socialize. Through activating and mobilizing their network of emboldened women around the world, the brand sits at the forefront of the future; always leading its audience to what will happen next.

femtastic

Cleo and Vanessa are the creators of Femtastic, a feminist music collective based in Stockholm, Sweden. They crush the music scene, release number one hits, take over the hottest clubs all while addressing sexism and the fight for gender equality with their lyrics, their events and through their nonprofit arm FATTA.

MADAME gANDHI

Madame Gandhi is an electronic drums and vocals project from LA. Featuring lead musician Kiran Gandhi (former drummer for MIA, Thievery Corporation) and Alexia Riner (sound designer from Berklee College of Music), the duo creates electronic anthems that leave their audiences dancing, smiling, laughing and thinking. The band has a following of over 30,000 fans online, and Kiran is known by millions internationally for sparking a viral movement about menstrual equity when she ran the London Marathon last year free-bleeding on her period.
